The Canadian County Sheriff’s Office took a man into custody in Mustang after they say he solicited sex with what he believed was a 15 year-old girl online.
Michael Robert Dubala, 58, of Oklahoma City was arrested on four counts of Soliciting Sexual Conduct of a Minor and one count of Lewd and Indecent Proposals to a Child. Canadian County Sheriff Randall Edwards, along with seven Deputy Sheriffs, arrested Dubala on Saturday, June 16 at Fireworks City U.S.A.
“He solicited sexual acts while chatting online with what he believed to be a 15 year-old girl residing in Mustang, instead he was actually corresponding online with Sergeant Adam Flowers, a undercover Canadian County Sheriff’s Deputy heading up the Sheriff’s Computer Crimes Unit,” Edwards said. “This makes a half doze of these online predators Sergeant Flowers has taken into custody since we started this program last fall and before they could harm any more children. I am not so naïve as to believe it was the first time for any of them to solicit sex of a minor.”
After chatting online for approximately two weeks with Sergeant Flowers, Dubala traveled from his southwest Oklahoma City home to meet the minor girl working at Fireworks City U.S.A., located just east of Mustang. Dubala had told the undercover Deputy while online and believing him to be a minor girl, to not wear any panties to work that day, that he would give her $10 when he picked her up to buy a pair of blue panties and that he wanted her to wear them before they had sex, Edwards said.
When he was arrested, Edwards advised Dubala had a single $10 bill in his pocket and admitted to Sergeant Flowers that he was going to have the minor girl use it to buy blue panties. When Dubala was approached by the Sheriff and his Deputies, he attempted to drive off but was immediately boxed in by Sheriff’s cars. He was taken into custody and booked into the Canadian County Jail.
His bond was set at $125,000.
Sergeant Flowers advised that it takes approximately 15 minutes online to be approached by a predator.
“Parents need to always be aware of who their children are online with, not only to keep them from being sexually abused but to keep them from being killed as well,” Edwards said. “I believe any predator is capable of killing their victim if they believe it would keep them from being caught or exposed.”
